A group of KS4 and KS5 Art and Design students visited the exhibition of Serbian contemporary artist Vladimir Velickovic “Figure as an expression of existence”. The
exhibition was very impressive, comprising more than a hundred paintings and drawings.
Even though Velickovic’s paintings reveal the tragedy of human suffering and death, students were impressed by the grandiose nature of his work.

On September 10, 2021, BIS students visited the Italian Cultural Institute in Belgrade who were holding an exhibition entitled听 “Nikola Tesla, the man who defined the future”,curated by Italian architect and illustrator,Daniele Meucci.

The exhibition, dedicated to the genius Nikola Tesla and his unusual life,听includes around fifty watercolour paintings which are included in the first graphic novel about Nikola Tesla to be published in December by Komshe.

The students had the privilege to talk to the artist in person and were delighted that they could ask questions about his work and the techniques he uses. Mr Meucci promised he would visit BIS and show the students, hands-on, how he does his watercolour paintings. The exhibition was well worth the visit.

Students were accompanied by Ms Ruska Jonjic, Art teacher, and Ms Aleksandra Keserovic, Director of Education at BIS.
