The BISMUN conference is one of the most significant student activities within international education, as this format helps young people develop public speaking, negotiation, critical thinking, and teamwork skills, as well as a better understanding of international relations and global politics. At the opening ceremony, representatives of international institutions and the diplomatic corps addressed the audience, including Dr. Dominika Krois, the representative of the UN Secretary-General and Director of the United Nations Office in Belgrade, Polona Ko拧i膷, Counsellor at the Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia in Belgrade, and Dominic Otway, Deputy Head of Mission of the United Kingdom in Serbia.

The conference is dedicated to the topics of diplomacy in the modern world, the importance of dialogue and international cooperation, and the role of young people in addressing global challenges.

Participating at the THIMUN with over 3000 delegates helped the BISMUN Club students to practice their public speaking, debating skills and their understanding of technical legal language. Working at the conference with 150 nationalities the BISMUN Club students encountered an internationally diverse environment and made connections with people from all around the globe.

THIMUN took place at the International Forum in Hague where many world leaders have spoken and made important geopolitical agreements. By being there the BISMUN Club students were able to experience the same formality and prestige as experienced by many high-level diplomats and world leaders.

In their free time, the BISMUN Club had the chance to visit two universities in Amsterdam, multiple museums and observe a trial at the International Mechanisms for Criminal Tribunals.

The conference brought together students from all over the region, representing more than 20 countries and talking on behalf of all nations of the UN. Delegates discussed topics as varied as the Kashmir, immigration, the South China Sea and Crimea. Everyone took an active part, explored new ideas and made new friends.

We are already looking forward to organising next year鈥檚 event. The BIS mission states that we want to develop internationally minded students who will make a positive contribution to society and we believe that the MUN conference did just that.
