Following our successful BSO inspection in May, the 糖心原创, Belgrade is delighted to inform you that we have been accepted as members of COBIS. We are very happy about this and look forward to being a COBIS school once again with all the opportunities this membership offers.

The BIS is now the only school in Serbia to be both a BSO and COBIS school.

The BIS students had a great time competing with their peers from six other schools from the municipality. We are proud of our students as they took part in several disciplines such as 鈥淪peed to Stars鈥�, Junior Olympics as well as football, basketball, strength and endurance competition, chess and table tennis and accomplished excellent results. A big 鈥渂ravo鈥� for Aleksa Vukovi膰 from Year 6, who won the first place and a golden medal in the 鈥淪peed to Stars鈥� discipline. He was one of the fastest boys in the competition and thus qualified for the City Competition. Besides Aleksa the qualification for the City competition was also accomplished by Roman Lazovic from Year 5 who won the fifth place.

The Year 2 students who participated in Junior Olympics won a very good third place and bronze medals whereas the students from Year 7 beat their peers from Primary School 鈥淩adojka Lakic鈥� and qualified for the municipality football semi-finals.

Great results were also achieved by Year 10 boys and girls who won the second place in the 鈥淪trength and Endurance competition鈥�.

The BIS talented chess players, Vuk Samard啪i膰 from Year 9 and Nonna Kristasatiryan from Year 6 won the second and the third place respectively.

The Duke of Edinburgh International Award requires students to complete 6 hours of purposeful activity on each of two days. In addition, the students had to set up their tents and prepare their own food for one night. This is one of the four sections of this award, but for many students the most exciting section.

One group had an expedition topic to look at the demise of Kosmaj tourism, and the other the religious buildings in the area and their significance for the area.

Having planned their hikes around the mountain in order to get to/from appropriate locations they set off on Saturday morning, maps in hand. They successfully navigated around some lovely scenery on the mountainside for many hours in lovely weather and both groups arrived, late afternoon, at their camping area. There they had to set up their tents and cook their own food over a fire. Being tired they decided that a party was out of the question and they were asleep far earlier than normal! The next morning (having been awoken at 6 am) they had to take down the tents and clear the site. Following this they had a second day of hiking and exploring the local area, using their map reading skills to navigate around.

Come Sunday afternoon both groups arrived at their final checkpoint, tired but very happy.聽They, and we, are proud of their achievement 鈥� well done to all involved.

The parents, students, staff and friends of the BIS enjoyed delicious food, friendly chats and the wonderful sunshine.

Like in the previous years, this year’s Welcome Barbecue party provided the opportunity for the new and the returning parents and teachers to meet each other and exchange their impressions and experiences related to the BIS and Belgrade in general.

This year鈥檚 premiere was on Sunday, June 17. The students had the opportunity to see their animated movies on the large cinema screen together with their parents and friends. This school year, twenty students, from 5 to 11 years old, worked hard and created around a hundred animated shorts films.

The students discovered film techniques such as close-up, change of plans and subjective point of view. Students also discovered how music emotionally contributes to their films and how to use the film-editing program so they can add music, sound effects and film titles to their animated films. Even the youngest were able to tell their stories through the animated film, which gave them a sense of creative power.
