On Saturday, 18 May, the BIS school community gathered for yet another successful Spring Charity Bazaar. The proceeds of the Bazaar will be going to Nurdor-an association supporting children with cancer and their families.

The weather on the day of the Bazaar was sunny and warm, and the variety of goods on the stalls was great. As always, the peak of the event was the raffle draw. The top prize was 5 days in Malaga, Spain donated by the Putnik travel agency.

Our students from years 10 and 11 had checked their list twice: Waterproof clothes, thermally insulated gloves, hat, coat and hiking boots.

They were on their way to Iceland. A country 33% larger than Serbia with a population of just 375,920. Known as the land of fire and Ice, the students were not disappointed. Opening the hotel curtains in the morning they were greeted with stunning Ocean views. This wasn’t a study tour for the weak of heart or spirit as they traversed waterfalls, climbed still heat radiating volcanoes and hiked to see glaciers. As well as braving and conquering the cold and walking in the windiest places in Europe (a lighthouse up a huge climb) they also spent time inside exhibitions and shows including the only live lava show in the world and the multi sensory flyover Iceland.

Day four saw students catch a ferry to Heimaey where they saw the devastation the eruption of 1973 caused. A visit to the national park and the mid Atlantic ridge was a fitting end to an incredible Geography study tour of Iceland.

The BIS Key Stage 3 students have recently visited the Spanish province of Andalusia, the chosen destination of their study tour this year.

During the trip they had an opportunity and pleasure to visit Pablo Picasso’s museum in Malaga, Granada’s most significant Moorish building, Alhambra, Saville’s royal Palace Alcazar, the Jewish quarter, the Cathedral and the Giralda. They also enjoyed visiting the Bioparc in Fuengirola, and the Aquarium in Benalmadena.

According to our students this study tour was by far the best one ever organised by the BIS. Everyone had great fun and learned a lot about Spain, its history and culture.

Some days are just better than others! ? Our amazing student council organized an epic Halloween party that was filled with fun and excitement.

The entire venue was transformed into a spooky wonderland, complete with cobwebs, pumpkins, and eerie lighting. ?? It truly felt like we had entered another world!

One of the highlights of the night was the room to escape. ? We were challenged to solve mind-boggling riddles and puzzles to unlock the door and escape within a certain time limit. Talk about an adrenaline rush! ? It was incredible to see everyone’s problem-solving skills in action.

But wait, there’s more! Our student council had also organized a thrilling treasure hunt. ?

And, of course, let鈥檚 not forget the costumes contest? ? It was a parade of creativity and imagination, with everyone dressed up in their spookiest and most impressive costumes. From wicked witches to terrifying zombies, we had it all! ?? Each outfit was a masterpiece, making it incredibly difficult for the judges to pick the winners.

All in all, it was a night to remember. ? Our student council truly went above and beyond to make this Halloween party unforgettable. A huge shoutout to each and every member who put their heart and soul into planning and executing this event.

Last Friday at BIS Primary was very spooky. The school halls were full of vampires, witches, ghosts and other frightening creatures. Our students came into school dressed up in their scariest costumes and brought the Halloween spirit to BIS.
In the afternoon, it was time for our annual costume competition. The assembly hall was fully transformed to welcome our little BIS ghouls so that they could all see each other鈥檚 costumes and celebrate together.
The BIS cooking club was very busy all week making some very tasty (and healthy) cookies that were given out as prizes to our costume winners.
For the first time, we held a pumpkin competition for the teachers and put their carving skills to the test.
Thank you to all the parents and students who put so much effort into making such creative and terrifying costumes.
Happy Halloween
