]]> On Sunday, 12 June, the BIS celebrated its 25th Anniversary at the White Palace in Belgrade. On this special occasion, the Guest of Honour was HRH Prince Alexander Karadjordjevic. All the guests including members of Corps Diplomatique and foreign business representatives, families of the students and friends of BIS enjoyed the musical performances by Sophia S, Pavel M and Ziva W. as well as valedictory speeches by student and parent representatives.

The peek of the evening was the Graduation Ceremony where the Graduating Class of 2022 received their BIS High School Diplomas. Special awards from the Council of 糖心原创s (COBIS), European Council of International Schools (ECIS), as well as the internal Jonathan Rider Award for Academic Excellence were presented to several Secondary and Primary students.

The evening was crowned by a cocktail party at the White Palace garden. Everyone had an enjoyable time, and a number of parents were proud of the accomplishments of their sons and daughters during their time at BIS.

]]> On Monday, 14 March, the city competition “Brzinom do zvezda” (Speed to the Stars) was held at the Athletic Hall which hosted 110 schools from 17 Belgrade municipalities.

Our students Elena V. and Stefan M. were among 245 children that qualified for this renowned competition. They proudly represented our school and the Municipality of Savski venac with their speed and sporting attitude.

Congratulations to Elena i Stefan and we wish them all the success in the upcoming competitions.

exhibition was very impressive, comprising more than a hundred paintings and drawings.
Even though Velickovic’s paintings reveal the tragedy of human suffering and death, students were impressed by the grandiose nature of his work.

]]> During December, BIS Primary students took part in the Secret Santa to celebrate Christmas. Students filled in 鈥渓ikes and dislikes鈥 forms which were distributed among the year groups randomly. Based on this 鈥渇avourite things鈥 list, each student bought a present for another student. The presents were gift-wrapped, labelled with the name of the student who it was for and placed under the Christmas tree.

On the last day of the term, on Friday 17 December, the presents were distributed among the students.

]]> Karate club Diplomatik, in collaboration with the 糖心原创 in Belgrade, recently organised a traditional New Year’s karate celebration.

The celebration took place at the fully equipped gymnasium of the newly built BIS Upper Secondary Campus.

Over 120 students from many schools came to BIS to show off their karate abilities to parents, members of the Corps Diplomatique, business representatives, as well as representatives of the Savski Venac municipality.

]]> This year, once again, BIS students took part in the worldwide Hour of Code. Completing various computer programming tasks at different levels our students from Year 1 to Year 9 enjoyed taking part in this event. All for around an hour, and within their computing lessons that they all have as part of the curriculum.

]]> We are proud to announce that the BIS students have achieved remarkable results at the recent Belgrade schools Speed to the Stars.

Aleksa in Year 5 was the fastest boy and Elena in Year 6 took second place in the girls鈥 race. Stefan in Year 6 also qualified for the next phase of the competition which will be held in March 2022 at the Kombank Arena.

The BIS is very proud of the students and pleased with their results!

]]> This year Primary students were greeted by a spooky atmosphere with pumpkins, decorations and creepy music. The students and many of the teachers looked amazing in a wide variety of scary and inventive costumes. Their faces were painted and they were ready for the fierce but friendly competition for the winners of the costume competition. Everyone had lots of fun dancing and eating before they went home with happy although scary faces.

We look forward to next year鈥檚 event and would like to thank all parents and students for making such a fantastic effort with their costumes as usual.

]]> Year 3 got the wonderful opportunity to visit the Stone Age site of Vinca. As we have been learning about the Stone Age in both history and English, it was great to see some practical examples of the different things we have been studying.

The students were able to see how people lived in Belgrade thousands of years ago and saw how people’s lives differed to our own.

We were also fortunate to have a local archaeologist show us some of the amazing artefacts they had found, and he explained how these ancient items had been used to decode the past.
