The Graduates dressed in blue gowns and caps looked very mature. Their families, teachers and friends were excited and cheering for them because they had made it. Our graduates were also a bit scared since they knew that once they walked across the stage everything would be different. They had finally reached the one night that would end school life and take their next educational step at university.

It was also the night when primary and secondary students were awarded for their outstanding academic achievements. Jelena, from Year 6, received the Council of 糖心原创s (COBIS) Award, whilst Eleni and Milica, from Year 9, jointly received the 鈥淛onathan Rider鈥� Academic Achievement Award.

Diplomas and awards were presented by the guest of honour, Mr Mirza Salman Babar Beg, Charge d鈥檃ffaire at the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and Ms Aleksandra Keserovic,聽BIS Principal.

When the night was over one of the graduates said, 鈥滻f I could turn back the hands of time, I would live my graduation once again.鈥� We all felt the same.

It was a dream come true after many years of hard work, worries and joys.

The Garden Party atmosphere was enhanced by the casual layout of the venue with the emphasis on entertainment. There were the usual favourites 鈥� a fashion parade, this year featuring traditional Pakistani clothes; songs by children from the Primary School; a musical item by Fiona and Maggie from Year 8, as well as a delightful display of dancing by young children dressed in traditional Serbian costumes, and聽 energetic Salsa dancing by a local dance group.

For the children there were games and workshops like bouncy castle, face painting, pottery workshop, “little electrician”, sport poligons and many more. There was a variety of international cuisines for sale under colourful umbrellas 鈥� National food stall, donated by parents, Lebanese, Japanese, Indian and other Asian delicacies, that tempted the strictest weight watcher. Background music increased the festive mood. Still, no Garden Party would be complete without HATS. We invited all the ladies to wear a hat of their choice for the event and awarded the most interesting one.

Annual favourite of BIS charity events聽 was the raffle draw with some outstanding prizes, this year including a week in Greece, a weekend in Kopaonik, a weekend in Vrdnik and vouchers for meals at exclusive restaurants, and many more. There were also baskets filled according to theme by each class in the school.

The proceeds from the event were donated to the Children鈥檚 Shelter, Zvecanska.

In the aftermath of the catastrophic flooding that has occurred in many parts of the country, on the day of the Garden Party, BIS acted as a collection and distribution point for donated items to help those in need.

The costumes and stage props were so atmospheric of America in the 1960s.聽聽We all were particularly impressed at how much movement, singing and choreography was involved.聽 It is testament to the work of our talented and dedicated Drama Club聽who put this show together. The cast were extremely creative with their roles and looked as though they were having a lot of fun! They performed with聽enthusiasm and the audience was captivated by the songs, dances and sheer dynamism聽of the聽talent on show. Congratulations to our Secondary students for the tremendous amount of time and energy they devoted to the success of 鈥淕谤别补蝉别鈥�.

Another spectacular show was put on, with every student in Primary having a role, from the oldest in the school having major parts to Reception students who performed a wonderful 鈥淐aptain Vegetable鈥� song and dance.

Thoroughly enjoyed by all, with many, many words of congratulation being made in the cocktail party that followed.

Well done to all the staff, a real team effort, guided by Mr Davies.

The exhibition was named 鈥楾he Four Cats鈥� (Cuatro Gatos) and presented graphics as the medium of one of the most important artists of the modern era 鈥� Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dali, Joan Miro and Antoni Tapies.

The title of the exhibition comes from a name of the famous caf茅 in Barcelona 鈥� Cuatro Gatos known for being the largest gathering place of artists in Barcelona in the early 20th century.

鈥楢 true painter is one who can paint extraordinary scenes in the middle of an empty desert. A true painter is one who can patiently paint a pear in the midst of the tumults of history鈥�.
